I was willing to let the cold of winter get in the way of staying fit… the fittest I’ve been… ever.

But then I got it back. I figured out why I didn’t like running in the cold. Not only did I hate the cold that hit my face the minute I stepped out my front door, but I had to bundle up, get myself motivated to go out and most importantly get over the voices that were telling me, “Are you crazy? It’s 35 degrees outside. It’ll snow if you go out to run!” Blah Blah Blah.

Yup.

We’ve all heard those voices whether we like to believe it or not.

It’s kind of like when we start anything new. A new business, a new marketing strategy, a new hair-cut, a new way of thinking. Or even re-new something that we know we can do well, but now buy the stories or little voices instead of feeling our soul’s true voice.

You know that voice too.

I’m talking about that one that is always present if you listen hard enough… The voice that may be momentarily drowned out by the louder “voices of doubt”, but which will rise to the top when you choose to listen over a long period of time.

It’s that voice, the one from our soul, our spirit, our purpose that will never die, only ignored. It may be tranquilized by the coldness or shunned into numbness, but it will never die while we still have breath yet to breathe.

That’s why it’s important to realize it’s always coldest in the parking lot. Once we stand in our commitment, whether it’s 35 degrees out or 75 degrees, we’re committed.

And isn’t it interesting that once we start going, it gets better. We feel better. Those little voices that told us we’re crazy and all the other stories start to settle down and maybe even chuckle at the act of your dedication, devotion, and commitment to yourself.

Get over the cold. Commit. Take action. It all gets better and you’ll feel so good for having done so.

Before I tell you how, let me tell
you how my morning started today.

I woke up around 8:30a this morning
knowing the brilliant lightening
and thunderstorms last night
left muggy and humid air.

I left the house around 9am and
felt pretty good considering my
ankle is still recovering from
an accident I had 3 weeks prior
where I rolled it.

Started at a good pace. Immediately
thought of what I was going to
accomplish today.

Thought about my SEO business and how
it often feels like the emotional
cycles I experience during my run.

Got wet with sprinklers, focused on
my running technique.

How often do we focus on our
business technique? How often
does starting a business feel
like we’re out of breath and having
to find our pace all over again.

Got to the canal and let my
border collie mix off his leash.
He loves that.

Business has been a journey. It’s
still a journey. I’m still so grateful
for all those obstacles along the way
and feeling out of breath at times.

Had to wait for traffic to pass
to cross a busy street and continue along
the canal. Patience is key.

I find that business has often times been
uphill for me. Sporadic, yet steady.
Knowing what my desired destination is,
yet feeling like it’s so far away.

Passed a woman on horseback… good
thing Bodie is on his leash.

How often do we get distracted my
our thoughts, new opportunities, of
self doubt?

I’m really feeling the heat now…
Coming up on the half way mark and
had to let Bodie off his leash.

Had to pass by piles of dirt
that earth movers had left behind
in their attempt to… what?

I have no idea… yet we got past them.

The turning point. Feels so good
because I know I’m half way there.
What about business? Have you turned
the corner?

Looked down at my speed and was amazed.
There’s no way I was trucking like that!
There must be a mistake.

Now I’m half way enjoying the heat, but
still feeling it.

Endurance is a funny thing. We almost
get immune to the heat. Almost.

Passed another runner with his dog.
Felt pretty good about myself…
Except that he was probably more than
twice my age.

Immediately had to leap while giving a
high pitched squeal as I passed what
could’ve been the largest spider I’ve
seen with my own eyes. Squealed because
it ran towards my foot as I ran past
rather than away.

Ran past a small bird in my path that
didn’t seem to want to fly away. I
assumed it was hurt and gave it ample
space. Beautiful thing with a yellow
breast.

And then it happened. My mind started
telling me I could still have a good
run if I stopped. The sun beat down hot.
I started thinking of stopping, just
a half a mile away from where I knew my
6 miles was finished.

I saw the last hill that signals only .10 miles
away from the finish. I literally was
ready to quit and start walking.

And then Justin Timberlake’s song,
lovestoned, started on my ipod.

THANK YOU!

Kickin’ beat. Kept me going. Finished!
Looked down at my GPS and low and behold
I ran 3 minutes faster than my fastest time.

How often are we ready to quit so close
to the finish?
Allow someone, something, Justin, anything
to give you that last push.
Then celebrate your victory.

I did. My best time ever.

Why?

I have finally admitted that I have this overwhelming addiction. Thanks to Rich Schefren, I came to grips with reality a couple of days ago and wanted to share it with you.

After all, the first step towards curing an addiction is to actually admit you have one. So with that, I admit that I have been addicted to being an opportunity seeker for the past 4 years.

Crap. This is been a huge break through for me because I’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing wrong. Why am I stuck in this incessant circle of finding a new opportunity, new product, new tactic, etc, but haven’t made the kind of money I want with any of them?

Why have I been in the 95% of business owners who are “failing” and not fulfilled?

Because I’m addicted to what the internet gurus dish out. I’m addicted to that feeling of finding that opportunity that “may be it”, that will make JT and I a lot of money… quickly.

I’m addicted to the feeling that I get when I buy a new internet marketing “course” or tactic that I believe will be the answer to our traffic issues, or to “add to our tool belt”.

I’m addicted to getting one more new course that may give me the answer I’ve been waiting for… how to make a six-figure income on auto-pilot! (Yeah right!!)

And I have to admit that I’m so sick of being addicted that I had to share the beginning of a new day with you.

You see, I read Rich Schefren’s business manifesto and went through a 2 part webinar series with him over the past couple of days and he peeled back the layer that I’ve been missing in my online business success.

I’ve been thinking like an opportunity seeker rather than a “strategic entrepreneur”. This may not mean much to you, but after reading his business manifesto, you will. And then you’ll be better able to see if which side of the success line you stand.

I highly recommend the business manifesto. It’ a must read for anyone who wants to break the mold of the 95% who fail online and finally reach the next level in their business. Rich has coached many of the online “gurus” and it’s no wonder that none of them want you to know about him and his teachings…

The main reason… because they want you to become addicts like the rest of the 95% and consume, consume, consume their materials… In other words, buy, buy, buy… I noted some of the symptoms of an addict before, but this is the most prominent one. (A hyper consumptive person who doesn’t make money because they’re so addicted to buying.)

Anyway, from here on out, if you have followed Rich Schefren’s Strategic Profits, you will know what I’m talking about, but I am dedicated to being a strategic entrepreneur.

I’m dedicated to looking at my vision for my business and only adding new tactics/course/products to my repertoire if they make sense to the overall picture and vision.

I’m dedicated to being coached and growing as a “strategic entrepreneur” that I add a few zeros to my net worth by next year!

And I’m dedicated to sharing my journey out of addiction with you.
